Any attempt to reconstruct at text with so many variant manuscripts as the Historia Brittonum is bound to involve some creativity and guesswork: at the most basic level, it can be little more than a matter of taste to decide which of two words is most likely to have been used by the original author.
Here is an attempt to reconstruct the earliest recovaerable form of the text: the Merminian text. A reconstruction of the archetype is in progress and will be uploaded when ready.
